Aircraft Summary

The Citation V is a stretched S/II model with 1.7′ added to its length and beefed up JT15D-5A engines, which give it an impressive 22 knot boost in speed. The wings on the V are identical to the S/II, however de-icing is achieved through bleed air-heated inboard panels and silver low-profile boots on the outboard panels as opposed to glycol de-icing. Plus, two additional baggage compartments were added for extra storage space. This aircraft can be RVSM certified when Service Bulletin SB-560-34-97 is followed precisely.

In 1994, the Cessna Citation Ultra was unveiled as an improved version of the Citation V (Model 560). The aircraft featured a new Honeywell Primus 1000 avionics suite that consolidated numerous displays and replaced regular analog flight instruments. Moreover, the Pratt & Whitney JT15D-5D turbofans provided 145 extra pounds of thrust per side, and were more effective too. This impressive business jet was even named Flying Magazine’s “Best Business Jet” before production concluded in 1999.

Valuation

The price range for a Citation Ultra is between $828,000 – $2,000,000. The price range for the Citation V is $890,000 – $2,053,000. The price range varies largely based on the year of the aircraft and pre-buy inspection if it’s been listed for sale. In pre-buy inspections, mechanics and appraisers are typically looking for corrosion and this applies to any aircraft. Since both the Citation Ultra and V are older aircraft the value also depends on the engine TBOs, paint, interior, and avionics along with a clean accident history and accurate maintenance logs.

The Citation Ultra was built by Cessna between 1994 – 1999. There were a total of 279 built and of that 261 are still in operation. The Citation V started production in 1989 and ended in 1994. There were a total of 262 built and 249 in operation as of February 2023.
