Aircraft insurance rates continue down as focus shifts towards 100% Bonus Depreciation vs Tariffs

  • I was just out at the Citation Jet Pilots Event. Next stop is Piper M-Class OPA
  • As you can see from my reference sheet, aircraft insurance is back to the status quo – business as usual
  • There is still a bit of pain for the less experienced pilots ie) sub 1,000 hours total time transitioning into a $5,000,000+ aircraft
  • I’ve been hearing rumors competition gearing up for another phase of price cuts but the competition is a bit bifurcated towards the most favorable risks
  • AI has entered the aviation insurance industry. It’s being used in underwriting, claims handling, and back office automation which has helped speed up repetitive tasks, reduce errors, and free employees for higher level tasks.
  • AI will also dive into your aircraft performance with ADSB and Air Sync data to determine who has a favorable risk profile
  • With the recent crash of the Challenger 300 at Boca Raton (BCT) Airport. The Challenger overran the runway. The ADSB data showed that 50% of the flights they did in the last month were flown at faster than normal approaches speeds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlwU5TvzCT0

Advice: The best way forward is to maintain a close relationship with your aviation insurance broker and underwriters so you get the best rates as things are changing.
