Aircraft Summary

The Citation Excel is a modified version of the Citation V Ultra, with a shortened Citation X fuselage and an elongated Citation V wing. Its PW545A engines make it swift compared to the V Ultra, with increased MGTOW and extended range. It also has an advanced avionics suite featuring Honeywell Primus 1000 flight guidance system and a single AlliedSignal flight management system. To be RVSM certified, Service Bulletin SL-560XL-34-02 must be followed. Serial number 560-5313 was never manufactured.

The Citation XLS is the next-generation of the Citation Excel, boasting speed and range that surpasses its predecessor. The aircraft’s two Pratt & Whitney PW545B engines are designed with a high-pressure core to maximize thrust up to 3,975 pounds each. This innovative design allows for greater airflow through the engine’s core, allowing it to operate at higher temperatures. Inside the cabin, you can find nine passengers in a silent and draft-free environment due to the triple-sealed entry door and triple-pane windows. Furthermore, an external compartment provides 80 cubic feet of storage space with some additional space in an internal closet.

The XLS Gen2 provides an upgraded aircraft experience with the inclusion of a lighted airstair door to increase ramp presence, a protective entry curtain for inclement weather on the ground, improved cabin acoustics during flight, and new accent lighting with stylish materials throughout the interior. Passengers will appreciate the comfort of individual controls and new styling in the pedestal seat design, including optional quilting. The forward couch also features an optional fold-down capability for easy access to baggage during flight. This model offers impressive speeds up to 441 knots (817 kilometers/ hour) and a maximum range of 2,100 nautical miles (3,889 kilometers). It has a takeoff field length of 3,600 feet (1,097 meters) and can climb to 45,000 feet (13,716 meters) in 30 minutes. In addition to its range and takeoff field length capabilities, it also boasts increased payload capacity and Stage 5 maximum noise level requirements.

The Citation XLS+ is a super light jet that has been upgraded from the already successful Citation XLS. It was granted FAA certification in 2008 and offers a cabin length of 18.7 feet, with the capability to fly up to 1,858 nautical miles. This jet can take off in just 3,560 feet and climb to cruising altitude within 15 minutes – an impressive feat that surpasses many other private jets on the market. With a maximum cruise speed of 453 knots and an ascent rate of 3,500 fps at sea level, it can also take off on runways as short as 3,560 feet – one of the shortest takeoff distances for any mid size jet. The improved performance of this aircraft is due to its two Pratt & Whitney PW545C high bypass engines which generate a thrust of 4,119 pounds each.
