Claim History

De Havilland aircraft has a low fatality rate and has a lot of claims because of its kind of flight operations. They fly into remote airports in the backcountry, mountains and are used as sea and ski planes.

Some common claims are FOD, hangar rash, hard landings, bird strikes and runway overruns.

Safety Features

De Havilland DHC-2T Turbo Beaver is known to be one of the most practical, versatile, rugged and reliable aircraft. The Pratt & Whitney PT6A6 turboprop makes it safer than other versions of the DHC-20.

It also has a better Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) performance and can operate from unsurfaced ground strips, or forest clearings of 300 meters in length.

The design of the DHC-2T especially ensures safety in bush operations. The ailerons and flaps are designed to be lowered during takeoff, generating more lift to promote STOL safety.

The Turbo Beaver is suited with STEC System 50 autopilot system and KCS55A compass system that reduces pilot workload and improves flight safety. It also features a lake and air gear advisory system. But, the greatest safety attribute is the experience and training of the pilot.
