Claim History
The Praetor 500 is a safe aircraft with a good claim history. The Honeywell HTF7500 engine inlets had an issue with Cowl inner barrel corrosion. As a result, Quiet Technology Aerospace (QTA) obtained STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) # ST04464AT approval for its seventh airframe-specific engine inlet replacement barrel.
Praetor 500s can now be fitted with QTA’s carbon graphite composite inner barrel. The composite barrel ends the root cause of corrosion.
Safety Features
The Embraer Praetor 500 is one of the safest in its class. The fly-by-wire and brake-by-wire technology makes flying safer and less rough. The aircraft also has fire and ice protection to prevent accidents caused by weather.
The fly-by-wire control system has five layers of redundancy. It protects the crew from total system failure. The layers are two generators, an APU, two main batteries, and two backup batteries. If there’s still an issue, a ram-air turbine (RAT) will be released into the slipstream to generate juice. The juice supports critical functions like controlling the airplane.
There’s also an emergency Vision Assurance System (EVAS). The EVAS system provides a clear space of air through which a pilot can see flight instruments and out the front windshield. This helps pilots land the plane when there’s cockpit smoke.
The fast Praetor 500 also has a Synthetic Vision System and Head-Up Display (HUD). The HUD boosts situational awareness and safety from takeoff to landing.
