Risk Areas

Claim History

The Embraer family has a good claim history. Though the Praetor 600 is relatively new, underwriters will consider the safety record of Embraer jets when considering the risk of insurance.

The Honeywell HTF7500 engine inlets had an issue with Cowl inner barrel corrosion. As a result, Quiet Technology Aerospace (QTA) received STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) approval for its seventh airframe-specific engine inlet replacement barrel. The praetor 600 barrel can now be replaced with QTA’s carbon graphite composite barrel which ends the root cause of corrosion.

Some other common claims are FOD, hangar rash, hard landings, bird strikes, and runway overruns.

Safety Features

The Praetor 600 mid-size jet is powered by the reliable and efficient Honeywell HTF7500E engine. The engine uses Honeywell’s Single Annular Combustor for Emissions Reduction (SABER) to reduce Nitrogen Oxide emissions.

The aircraft engine has three hydraulic systems so there’s plenty of redundancy. Two ice detectors can automatically activate the wing, horizontal stabilizer, and anti-ice systems.

The Praetor 600 has an APU that is designed to increase safety in small and medium-range business jets. The fly-by-wire control lowers turbulence during the flight. It also provides more automation to reduce the pilot’s workload and improve safety. The Praetor 600’s cabin has standard HEPA filters that remove 99.97% of bacteria from the air.

Praetor 600 also features an autothrottle system, lightning detection system, Predictive WindShear System (PWS), and Vertical Weather (VWX) surface management system. The PWS detects and alerts the pilot of wind shear conditions ahead of the airplane. There’s also provision for Enhanced Vision System (EVS) and Head-Up Display (HUD) as optional installations.
